The Certificate of Achievement in American Sign Language (ASL) is earned after successfully passing six classes: SIGN 101 or SIGN 101H, SIGN 102, SIGN 103, SIGN 104, SIGN 105, and Cultures in the Deaf Community. Our Mission is to increase knowledge and inspire students to appreciate Deaf people as a cultural and linguistic minority with a breadth and depth of rich histories, languages, cultures, and experiences. This Certificate of Achievement stands on its own. After students complete this certificate, there is the option to continue to take more classes to get additional degrees or certificates. This Certificate of Achievement in American Sign Language (ASL) is foundational to understand ASL fluency and Deaf Culture. Students will be immersed in diverse Deaf culture and language. Through a framework of social justice and communication equity, this is the introduction to other opportunities in the Deaf Community.
