The Educational Paraprofessional - Children with Special Needs prepares students to work with children in a variety of ways which enhance their learning and development.  Students will gain an understanding about typical and atypical characteristics in physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development of children.  Students completing this certificate will be able to assist classroom teachers in working with K-12 students, including students with special needs.  Students will understand the role of the teacher as a professional working with families, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and cultural competence.
