This certificate prepares students for entry-level positions within the field of graphic design. Students will learn about history, process, and academic and career pathways of graphic design. Topics include a historical review of graphic design, design elements and principles, client and designer relationship, and a general overview of the academic vs. career pathways. Courses within this program will serve as preparation for high school students, adult re-entry students, or adult learner seeking entry-level employment in graphic design. Upon completion of this program, students will earn a Certificate of Completion in Graphic Design Basics.

  • Students will be prepared to enter entry-level jobs related to graphic design.
  • Students will be employed or seek employment in the field or a related field.
  • Students will be informed about the profession’s general history, basic processes, and academic and career pathways.
  • Students will be able to begin a pathway from noncredit to employment or enrollment in Mt. SAC’s credit-bearing programs.
