This certificate prepares students for entry-level positions within the field of cybersecurity. It provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to assess cybersecurity threats and use the appropriate tools to remediate security vulnerabilities. Topics include cybersecurity threats, threat data, and exploit analysis; vulnerability scanning, analysis, and host remediation; and common cybersecurity tools and technologies. Courses within this program will serve as preparation for high school students, adult re-entry students, or adult learners seeking entry-level employment in cybersecurity related jobs. Upon completion of this program, students will earn a Certificate of Completion in Cybersecurity Essentials.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Students will be prepared to enter entry-level jobs related to cybersecurity.
  • Students will be employed or seek employment in the field or a related field.
  • Students will be able to assess cybersecurity threats and use the appropriate tools to remediate security vulnerabilities.
  • Students will be able to begin a pathway from noncredit to employment or enrollment in Mt. SAC’s credit-bearing programs.
