Image editing software and techniques commonly used in photography. This will include digital workflow practices, file management, image editing, enhancing, and retouching methods commonly used in photography.

The basic mechanical, optical, and chemical principles of photography, including traditional darkroom techniques and digital image systems. Laboratory experience involves problems related to camera and image editing and output techniques.

Advanced application of digital capture and data workflow using various digital format cameras. Students will be using digital single-lens reflex (DSLR), medium, and large format digital camera systems along with software to produce high-quality digital photographs. Studio and field assignments will provide opportunities for image capture and application of professional workflow, production, and lighting techniques. Field trips may be required.

Photo alternative black and white analog film studies. Techniques, practice and understanding of advanced analog camera systems, camera formats, film development, and darkroom printing. Provides students with on-the-job experience in professional photography and related areas in an approved work site to strengthen and broaden skills in the workplace. A minimum of 75 paid or 60 non-paid clock hours per semester is required for each unit of credit. It is recommended that the hours per week are equally distributed throughout the semester.
